After receiving their initial training and
orientation Parkland Search & Rescue Society members practice regularly
throughout all four seasons of the year utilizing both indoor and outdoor
sessions to learn something new, practice the fundamentals, teach and
be taught by each other.

| Equipment Orientations (personal, medical, operations,
rescue) Ground Search Techniques - Review & Exercises Map Reading and Sketching, Compass Navigation & Exercises First Aid Medical Topics & Scenario Exercises Tracking & Clue Finding Exercises Command Post & Operations Setup RCMP Crime Scene Evidence Protection & Exercises Global Positioning System (GPS) Navigation & Exercises Basic Life Support (CPR) Recertification (offered 2-3 times per year) Casualty & Stretcher Handling Exercises Basic Low Angle Rescue (knots, anchors, pulleys, rappelling and belays) Radio Communications |

| Weekend training courses include but are not limited to: | |
| Search & Rescue Fundamentals Wilderness First Aid & Basic Life Support Standard First Aid & Basic Life Support Tracking (to various levels of skill) Wilderness Survival Mock Search Exercises Team Leader Training Civil Emergency Response |
